Note: if you are applying for a (co-)chair position on the FYC, please have your resume, coverletter, and web transcript ready. Like applying for a job, you should make sure your resume and coverletter are tailored most closely to the position you want on the First Year Committee. To obtain your web transcript, log into Aurora by navigating to “Enrollment & Academic Records” -> “Student Records” -> “Academic Transcript” -> “View Web Transcript”. A Screenshot is suitable.
Position Descriptions
Social Co-Chairs (2)
Plan and organize at least one social, typically held in January
Responsible for the logistics and various resources needed for the social
Support other members of the First Year Committee as much as possible
Fundraising Co-Chairs (2)
Plan and organize various fundraisers to support the FYC’s charitable activities
Investigate sponsorship opportunities for charity events
Coordinate volunteers for fundraisers
Support other members of the First Year Committee as much as possible
Charity Co-Chairs (2)
Plan and keep track of logistics for the FYC Charity events
Work with the charities being supported (Ex: Boys and Girls Clubs of Winnipeg)
Support other members of the First Year Committee as much as possible
Finance Chair (1)
Responsible for recording FYC’s budget by setting goals and limitations to income and expenses
Tasked to follow-up and collect receipts for reimbursements
Support other members of the First Year Committee as much as possible
Marketing Chair (1)>
Come up with a marketing strategy for FYC’s fundraising, charity and social events
Work with the CSA’s marketing team in designing posters and social media materials for the promotion of events
Manage the FYC’s social media pages

I don’t want a specific position, can I still be involved?
Yes! You can sign up to be a part of the General Council and help out at FYC events. You can add your name to the list by filling out the form below.
I am running for First Year Rep, can I apply in case I am not elected?
Yes! We encourage students running for First Year Rep to still put in their application, that way they still have an interview time in the event that they are not elected.
Why are applications open during the First Year Rep Elections?
Due to a condensed schedule, the CSA is facilitating the collection of applications and scheduling of interviews for the First Year Committee. Traditionally, the first event the First Year Committee attends together is Etiquette Evening, which takes place November 10th. As a result, the committee must be established before this date. Interviews will still be conducted by the First Year Reps, and the selection of the committee will remain in their sole discretion.
